As with all state-funded schools, the financial situation for RGS is very challenging. The annual cost to run the rugby programme at RGS is approximately £60,000. This is met through a number of initiatives to generate additional revenue. About 95% is raised through subs, sponsorships, fund raising events, including the Sportsman's Dinner, Burns Night, Beer & Gin Festival and Comedy Night.
This is raised from the generosity of parents, individual donors who support the School through attendance at events and donations to the Friends of Rugby. Whilst funds are raised to ensure the School meets its annual financial commitments we are very proud to say that we were able to invest in the Gym project in 2019.
We are incredibly grateful for gifts of all sizes and you can make your gift as a single payment or in instalments. Please don’t forget to complete the Gift Aid declaration to increase your gift by 25p for every £1 you give.
Thank you for your support.
Many thanks to all of those who donate subscriptions to the rugby section at RGS. Annual subs are the second biggest revenue stream for FRoRGS after the Sportsman's Dinner and are essential to the rugby programme.
1562 is an important year in the history of RGS High Wycombe. It is the year in which Queen Elizabeth I granted the School a Royal Charter. Five centuries later, much of RGS has altered beyond recognition. But what remains unchanged is the School’s distinctive ethos, grounded in the enduring values reflected in its Elizabethan foundation. RGS High Wycombe remains committed to building on its rich heritage, and, in so doing, to further develop its reputation as one of the finest state selective schools in the UK.
The 1562 Society was established to thank and recognise individuals within the RGS High Wycombe community who share this dedication and commitment to the School. Individuals are recognised for demonstrating significant support for RGS through the giving of their time, resources or expertise.
For our financial supporters this means donating £15,620 to our rugby fundraising programme. Membership of the 1562 Society is limited to 100 individuals per year.
